"Being a mother and a black woman are two amazing titles that I am blessed to have. Unfortunately not everyone knows that or sees it that way. With my son I did NOT have a positive experience in the hospital. I was ignored, patronized and among other things I was discriminated against. When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted a different experience. One that was positive and would bring good memories. Of course, having anxiety, I changed everything I could to better my experience this time around. Researching online I found out about doulas and what they do. I saw Erica was a doula and she gave me so much helpful information. Having her by my side during my pregnancy and my natural home birth was amazing. She was helpful and hands on. She gave advice and tips ranging from yoga to aromatherapy. She was a major help and even held me up while I birthed my daughter. Erica also supported and assisted me in the weeks after my pregnancy. She entertained my toddler, made me healthy dessert, and even gave me and dad a few hours of peaceful sleep. Whatever I needed help with she was there ready and eager. It was a game changer having her as my doula. I will forever be thankful."
